National Student Media Awards 2010 Photographer Of the Year Nominee At the age of four, Shane took his first photograph with his father's Nikon EM (a camera which is he still uses to this day) and ever since, his fascination of documenting life with photography and video began. Graduate Degree student of the first joint European University Fetac Award of the Bachelor of Arts Honours in Multimedia at the Cork Institute of Technology and Media Production at the University of Applied Sciences, Hochschule Darmstadt, Germany. Music and skateboarding have played a major part in Shane's life. Starting at the age of 8, moving through a variety of Instruments and studying Music Theory at the Limerick School of Music. But under his own motivation, began to learn how to play the drums. For the past decade he has played drums with various artists of many different genres from traditional Irish to punk rock, performing in front of audiences all over the world and is currently endorsed by the C & C Custom Drum Company. Since the age of 13 Shane has spent his life upon wood, metal & urethane and once won several skateboarding competitions and had small sponsorships, but in recent times has spent most of his time behind the lense. Growing up in Ireland and being heavily involved in the music and skateboarding scenes and knowing many unknown artists of different mediums, in late 2008, Shane took it upon himself to begin [crude] magazine, an alternative culture & lifestyle magazine dedicated to documenting and shining a light on Ireland's ever growing urban culture, showcasing music, art, photography, digital artists, graffitti artists, skateboarders and more. |
